Tidy Tullamore 2016
Since its humble beginnings in 2001, Tidy Tullamore, sponsored by Offaly County Council has grown into one of the most hotly anticipated events on the Credit Union calendar.
2015 saw Whitehall scoop top honours and O’Connor’s pub won the Gold Business Award. Prizes were also awarded to 29 other groups.
Open to all residential streets, estates, businesses and villages in our common bond, the benefits of the Tidy Tullamore competition are significant:
The community benefits as neighbours come together to enhance their road, or estate. The businesses who participate will benefit by becoming more attractive to shoppers, and the benefits to Tullamore and the surrounding villages who participate are there to be seen creating a wonderful sense of pride in the community.
In other exciting news, Tullamore town was nominated as one of only two Irish entries in the esteemed European Entente Florale Competition. The Dept. of the Environment nominated Tullamore due to its achievements in the National Tidy Towns Competition. There are 11 countries competing this year.
In the middle of July this year an international panel of international judges will visit Tullamore for one day and see the best of the town and its surrounding areas. The town will then be awarded a gold silver or bronze award, so Tullamore Credit Union, Offaly County Council, Tidy Towns and The Chamber of Commerce are calling on everyone to help win gold.
The Tidy Tullamore launch will include a presentation on the upcoming Entente Florale competition, the works that will be taking place in the town, and how people can become involved.
